Welcome to Page of Prophecy!

Within this site, I'm chronicling information about the basics of astrology. It's my hope that anyone stumbling upon this site with an interest in astrology will find ease in learning the basics and clarity in terms of precisely what kind of astrology we're talking about.

One of the most confusing and perhaps damaging parts of astrology in this digital era is how diverse and indiscriminatory the term astrology has become. There have always been different branches of astrology throughout history who see the stars differently, but the differences no longer end at the techniques used in Vedic vs. Western vs. Chinese astrology.

For the vast majority of people in the Western world, the term "astrology" does not bring to mind an expansive and complex set of techniques that are inspired by but not limited to stars. Instead, we tend to think of zodiac signs (or star signs or Sun signs, depending on locality) and horoscopes in magazines that are clearly generalizations made to apply to everyone.

For those who dig deeper, they may find a concerning lack of agreement or sameness amongst astrological traditions. While we use the same names for the zodiac signs, for example, Vedic and Western astrologers tend to use different zodiacs, often changing the signs you'll find in your chart. Beyond this there are debates about many other core parts of astrology - does Neptune or Jupiter rule Pisces? What orb should we be using for aspects? What house system is "correct", and are there house systems that are better for some types of astrology than others? How heavily do we see the personal impact of the transsaturnian planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto)? The questions are endless once you dive into an astrology beyond Sun signs.

These kinds of questions will not be the early focus of this website. The focus for now is to give you the foundations of astrology - the planets, the houses, the signs, and the aspects. This fourfold structure is key in getting started with astrology, and truly is enough on its own to lend a helpful hand to those seeking answers from the stars. It is certainly not all there is to know, however.

In particular, it is important to me to be clear about which traditions I am working within for this website. As of 2021, there are many creators speaking on astrology from a variety of different angles and traditions that at times seem hard to vet. One astrologer or astro enthusiast may believe one astrological theory while another finds the theory to be nonsensical and confusing. At times, it is merely a difference of tradition. There are techniques, for example, within the Vedic tradition that do not work as well if you insert them into the Western tradition and neglect to mention its origins.

This site, therefore, is primarily focused on Western astrology utilizing the tropical zodiac and the whole sign houses system. We include the modern planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) but not as rulers for zodiac signs, utilizing a more traditional rulership scheme. At some point perhaps I will explain why I have made these choices, or perhaps I will change my mind somewhere down the line.

In any case, I hope you will find this site illuminating.
